A Letter to the Class of 2024 from the President of GBS
Dear Class of 2024,
On behalf of the Global Business Society, I would like to congratulate you on becoming a Gator! We are all so excited to welcome you into the Gator Nation. By way of introduction, my name is Gabriela Harmon and I am the president of the Global Business Society. I am a third-generation Gator and I'm studying accounting and Spanish.
In addition to feeling excited about your freshman year, you might also be feeling nervous about joining under the current circumstances. I want to assure you that both the faculty and the student body are working hard on plans to integrate you into the UF community despite setbacks. I also want to let you in on some advice: in order to make this great university feel like home, you have to find your niche.
I grew up in South Florida, surrounded by Latin culture, and am Cuban-American myself. My upbringing sparked my interest in learning about different cultures. I was drawn to the Global Gator Guide program because of the opportunity that it provides for cultural exchange on a personal level. Serving as a Gator Guide has been the most rewarding experience of my undergraduate career because of the effect that I was able to have on international students’ experience within our community and perception of our culture. I will also always cherish the relationships I have made with international business students and my fellow student leaders. I found my niche within the Global Business Society. I encourage you to explore all of the student organizations that UF has to offer in order to find your own.
If you are interested, please read more about our Gator Guide program and join us in the Fall for general body meetings. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to me directly at email@example.com. Congratulations again, I wish you the best of luck!
See you in the Fall! Go Gators!
